When Chris asked if I wanted to do a photoshoot, I was scared to tell him that I had nothing to wear.  He asked what my style was, and I replied, “Cheap hand-me-downs.”

Thankfully, I still said yes, and I love the results.

This was in October and I had just come off four 14 hours shifts working the advanced polls in the election.  I was tired and it was a really cold fall day.

Leading up to this day, I had saved a bunch of Pins to try to plan some outfits, but time and the fact that I live in the boonies meant throwing together pieces found in the local second hand store, the back of my closet, and the high school drama club’s costume collection.

What I’m trying to say is, don’t stress over being perfect.  Show up to life with what you have and you’ll be surprised how good things can turn out.  ( It helps to have an amazing photographer.)

Chris has a new book out that I wrote about here.  It would make a fantastic Christmas gift for anyone from Saskatchewan.  You can also check out his other work on his website.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the shoot.

  1. They are stunning!! You look fabulously relaxed and in a happy place. You are so right — why do we stress over clothes. It’s silly because they are just the outer later of us. What’s inside is so much more important. That’s what you showed the camera! How lucky that you know Chris – I have followed him on Instagram for eons.
