What type of shopper are you?
When Tourism Swift Current invited me to come explore their vibrant downtown, I decided I was going to make it a relaxing day of browsing, enjoying food and drinks, and taking in the sights and sounds. No rushing allowed.

For me, an enjoyable day of shopping needs to feel like an experience and that’s why I always enjoy downtown districts. I planned my visit so that I could finally hit up the Market Square that is held every Saturday. The smell of food reminded me of markets that I have visited around the world. As the live music played, I wandered through the tents and sidewalk stalls. There was a variety of vendors to choose from and I still regret not buying the garlic powder that I smelled.

A coffee from Urban Ground Coffee House was next on my list. With a reminder to myself not to rush, I enjoyed my full latte at the table on the sidewalk with music from the market playing in the background.
As I walked up and down the streets and in and out of stores, I smiled at the bright flower baskets, trees, rainbow walkway, and unique store fronts.
I sampled balsamic vinegar at Olea Oil and Vinegar Tasting Room, tried on super fun glasses at Optical Image, and sought out weird candy at The Sputtergotch Toy Company. Worm suckers, anyone? My e-bike needs a tune-up, so I popped into Pedal Works to confirm my appointment this coming week. ( Stay tuned for a trail biking adventure!)

A store I definitely need to go back to is 7th Heaven Hair Design. She has a whole house full of bright, funky, colorful, comfortable clothes…. How many dresses and jumpsuits are too many to own? She is located right next to the Market Square and every Saturday she fills her yard with racks of clothes.
Oh, did I mention how big my bowl of Wonton Soup from Casey’s Diner was?? I popped in for a light meal of an egg roll and wonton soup and the bowl could have fed a whole family and more!
Every shopping day needs a drink break, if you ask me, and as I sat on a patio to order a bevvy, I was joined my 2 guys I didn’t know. In true small town fashion, it took 1 minute to make multiple connections. A cold drink and good conversation was the perfect end to my afternoon.
The Rainbow Motel was my room for the night. I love budget motels and my room was so spacious and clean. The gentleman checking me in even remembered me from my last stay.

Shopping can be stressful, but making it a day out is worth it. Downtown Swift Current has stores to meet all of your needs and is the perfect place to grab those items that you deserve. As a bonus, you are supporting small locally owned businesses, and that is always a win.
And yes, I made a quick stop at the Living Sky Casino before calling it a night!
