Lang.
Big Orange ( now Silver) water tower.
Green Ghost.
Lion’s Park Parties.
The Bar.
These are a few of the things that come to mind when I think about Lang, Saskatchewan. My home town. The town I am terrible at getting back to.
This year communities around Canada are hosting homecomings to celebrate the 150th birthday of our country and I am crossing my fingers that I make it to Lang on July 28th – 30th of this year.
I have been in contact with some of the organizers, and here is a quick snap shot of what is planned.
Pork Supper ( who doesn’t miss the orange carpet walls in the hall??)
Beer Gardens ( Of course)
A Parade. I’m challenging all graduating classes to enter!! That’s you, 2000!
Or, if you have a business, come brag it up!!
Cake cutting, bonfire, wiener roast….
Breakfast…. You will need it after an evening of indulging at the beer gardens. You know you will all be drinking to the memory of the big brick bar that was torn down.
There will be children’s events, because we aren’t all single partiers anymore, including a straw bale maze and bouncy castles.
More beer gardens. The kids will be fine. It’s Lang!
The historical scavenger hunt sounds really interesting. Who wants to be on my team??
There will be ball games held throughout the day, too!
And in case you weren’t reminiscing enough about the good old days, there is an Old Timers Dance with music by Al and Company.
Fireworks will add to the evening, and Sunday Church ( and Brunch!) will complete the weekend.
I will post updates as I get them, but the best place to stay in the loop about this exciting event is on Facebook @langhomecoming150 .
Be there!! And, please pass this on to everyone and anyone who has a spot in their heart for LANG, SK!
