” Is she going too fast?”
“No, her friend is going too slow.”
This is what I remember my mom asking the employee last time I experienced Go Carting. I was probably 10.
When I was making my 40 Before 40 Bucket List, I thought about not adding go carts, but something was telling me I needed to bring back my inner child and do this again.
This July, as we dropped off the step daughter at camp, I found myself forgetting my want for speed. I took the Mom route and let the boys race while I snapped pictures. After all, I needed to save cash because of my barely existent summer teacher’s wage.
The boys had a blast and then we went home.
A few days later, I reread the bucket list I had made earlier this year. Go Carts.
It shouldn’t take a list to remind a person to have fun and just go for it, but it did. Luckily, we were headed back in a few days to pick up Grace from camp.
I could redeem my boring Mom stint. Keegan thought it was a great idea!
I had a blast at Cypress Hills Speedway! For eleven dollars, I was a able to tick off an item on my list, make memories with my stepson, and wear a perma-grin as I did lap after lap with the gas pedal floored.
Thanks to my sister, Terri, for being the picture taker!
What childhood memory do you want to relive?
